his peepers, yellow-clawed
tap-tap-tap—his wakeful
fight to the ossifiers.

The DESK MEDIC—
hath healed nothing save his own practice,
hath clipped, pasted and sealed,
and ruled, and all
correct to the letter.
Hath ministered to the birds in books,
suspenders and tubing, stains in
umber, bitters, and assoc.
Also: soothed the aching rug
with foxtrots, and
the youthful pogo.
